What's the story here?
My friend, Helen Faith, is part of an organization that rebuilds Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. She asked me if I would create this calendar to celebrate the Tibetan New Year (similar to the Chinese), and make it full of symbolic nature like the sacred sandalwood tree, and of course, a kindly rat! This Year of the Rat is the beginning of a new 12 year cycle in the Chinese and Tibetan zodiac, and is said to be especially gracious in offering us fresh opportunities and plenty. It's also a year to celebrate our blessings and each other.
This is a poster print recreated from the cut-paper and ink original, printed on premium gloss stock. In keeping with the Tibetan calendar, the months displayed are February 2008 to February 2009. There's an extra box beneath the months for notes. And it's super!
